I started my Recovery Journey at the age of 15. I currently have 11 years, 7 months, and 13 days alcohol-free and 11 years, 2 months, and 2 days clean from Marijuana. My Sobriety date is 8/15/14 because That is the day I Surrendered and began Focusing on Recovery, not just Abstinence.I am from Ohio and was raised by a single mom as the only child. I have no children. Although I have a diverse ethnic heritage, I am simply an American.I work in recovery because it helps me, and I have always wanted to help people that I can. I know how hard it can be to be honest with yourself and others.I understand the challenges of making oneself vulnerable to healing.I know how it feels to be afraid to trust people and to have faith in a power greater than myself that, at first, isn't empirically evident. On my journey, I've learned that life happens, and it isn't always pleasant. I've learned that I cannot do everything alone and that disappointments are a part of life.I've also learned that I have plenty of support from people who care and can relate to me on many levels. I don't have to do it all by myself; I just have to be willing to ask for help.I am in the Recovery field because I want to be one of those people others can depend on. I want to share my personal experiences to help others realize that none of us are unique in our experiences, thoughts, or feelings.I want to help show others that life can be appreciated even when it seems bleak. I want to be a beacon of light for those immersed in darkness.I have a college education; however, life has been my greatest teacher.Learning from people from all walks of life that every experience is a lesson. As long as I remain teachable, I can continue to grow and become the best version of myself.
